Heathrow Airport Solution

We were approached by a third party to try and assist both them and Heathrow Airport with a problem they were having in their baggage areas.

It was pointed out to us that when the baggage runs through the multi conveyor system some baggage falls from the conveyor and it is unclear which conveyor it has come from.

The customer needed a solution so that they could easily identify where the baggage has come from and return it to its correct position therefore ensuring passengers luggage is forwarded to the desired destination.

After a sight survey Speedflex quickly identified the problem and offered a solution that is both adaptable and cost effective.

We proposed a PVC partition that runs parallel with the conveyor so that when luggage falls off it remains in the area of the conveyor it was travelling. We also advised on a sliding track which meant that when the conveyor was not in operation it can be pulled to one side and tied back.

Heathrow quickly advised of the idea to all participating airline companies present at the airport to seek their views. They were happy to hear that all companies approved of the proposal and Heathrow set about installing this straight away.
